Nov 26th Beginner Block Printing Workshop- Card Making
Date: Sunday November 26th, 9am-1pm
Location: Creative Nomad Studios, Orillia, Main Floor
In this jam packed 4 hour class we will cover the basics related to block printing. No experience necessary! I will provide the space, materials and ideas for you to go from “I know nothing” to “look what I printed!”. At the end, you will take home 10 printed cards with envelopes, your carved block, and a stamp pad- along with new skills and confidence to continue block printing.
We will begin with sketching and transferring images onto our 4x6 blocks, then spend time carving with gauges, and finish with printing our carved images onto blank cards using a black stamp pad.
All materials are provided, as well as images, however feel free to come with a sketch or ideas that we can work with. I will provide a few images for you to work from- such as a bird, a landscape, something botanical- if you prefer to focus on technique. This is the perfect time to create a holiday gift card, however we aren’t limited to that idea.
This is a small class with a maximum of 10 participants.

This workshop will take place on the main floor of Creative Nomad Studios, located at 23 Mississaga St West, Orillia Ontario. Parking is available on the street and in nearby municipal lots. The building is accessible, and use of your hands is required.
Gillian Lowry has been a practicing printmaker for over 20 years. She has experience in relief printing, silk screen printing, lithography, and experimental printing.
This workshop is geared towards those over the age of 18, however younger participants will be considered with a signed waiver of a parent/guardian.
